Open-Source VFX Tools for ComfyUI

Six open-source tools for ComfyUI were released at the Comfy Open Source Higgsfield competition (October 2026), including SameFace for measuring and correcting face drift, AInVFX Paint a plate for propagating first-frame edits across a shot, and MatteDesk for browser-based rotoscoping and matting.

🛠 Open-Source VFX Tools for ComfyUI

A batch of open-source tools for ComfyUI was released at the Comfy Open Source Higgsfield competition (October 2026). The flagship tool is SameFace (Apache-2.0): it restores faces that have shifted after editing. In the demo case, drift dropped from 0.83% to 0.010% of head size.

🌍 The package addresses VFX pipeline pain points: Paint a plate propagates first-frame edits across a shot with EXR/OCIO export, MatteDesk provides browser-based rotoscoping with .nk export to Nuke, and ComfyUI-Dials offers motion and style controls for MiniMax H3 without fine-tuning.

👤 Everything is open with hardware requirements: SameFace runs locally via ComfyUI Manager (~3.2 GB VRAM), Paint a plate requires a GPU with 32 GB or Runpod, MatteDesk is a Windows installer, and Dials consists of 14 KB sliders from Hugging Face. The SameFace demo is a single case, not a benchmark.
