🤖 PostgreSQL 19 Delayed Due to Flood of Bugs from LLM Reviewers

The release has been moved from the usual September–October window to November 19, 2026 (RC 1 — October 15, RC 2 — November 12). Committer Robert Haas links the delay to LLM reviewers finding bugs en masse: from April to September, commits to master grew from 1,037 to 1,443 (+39%), while stable branches saw increases of 61% and 74%. As a result, three major features were rolled back, including SQL/PGQ.

🌍 LLMs are finding more bugs than humans can verify and commit in time, so resources were diverted to fixing stable branches, and completed features were rolled back. This is currently the perspective of one committer.
