🤖 The fly decided where to start: Drosophila connectome prioritizes tasks
The MWS team launched the demo dontdoit.tech: enter up to 5 tasks, and the top-priority one is selected by an emulation of the Drosophila nervous system based on the MaleCNS v1.0 connectome — a reconstruction of the entire central nervous system of an adult male fly (over 166,000 neurons). The model does not “read” the names: each task corresponds to a moving marker on the arena, and the connectome “turns” toward one of them. The result is a shareable card, and the list is transferred to MWS Tables.
🌍 The open dataset MaleCNS v1.0 (FlyEM/HHMI Janelia, CC-BY) has become an “engine” for web applications: it is not an LLM or random selection, but a map of neurons and synapses that makes the decision. Previously, the connectome was connected to Doom, Super Mario 64, and chess.
👤 The demo is free and requires no registration. The dataset is open at male-cns.janelia.org, and project examples are in the GitHub lists awesome-fly and awesome-fruit-fly.
