Epoch AI (author — Josh You) published the AI Chip Users explorer on September 9, 2026: an interactive tool that estimates the actually used, not just owned, compute resources of leading AI labs in Nvidia H100 GPU equivalents (H100e).

🌍 Median estimates for December 2025: OpenAI ~1.74 million H100e, Google DeepMind ~1.58 million, Anthropic ~1.19 million, Meta Superintelligence Labs ~1 million, SpaceXAI ~0.6 million; the confidence intervals of OpenAI and DeepMind overlap significantly. OpenAI's compute grew by about threefold annually, and for 2026 the company has allocated ~$50 billion for compute, about three times the 2025 budget.
