Developer jaskirat released MacTap 2.1.0 (MIT) — a free menubar app for macOS: one to three taps on the MacBook body or the desk trigger commands — copy, paste, screenshot, Lock Screen, shell, AppleScript, and accepting/rejecting suggestions in Cursor and Claude Code. Everything is recognized on-device, without network or account; 5,214 downloads in the first 4 hours.

🌍 MacTap opens the body accelerometer (SPU HID) as a programmable input: unlike the closed Back Tap on iPhone, a tap can be bound to any automation — a niche for 'physical gestures' on macOS.

👤 Works on MacBook with M2 and newer (plus M1 Pro/Max) on macOS 14.6+: download MacTap on GitHub, enable Accessibility, and assign taps — one for screenshot, two for screen lock, a tap on the closed lid for your own script. Free and offline.
