🛠 🎬 Compressing videos locally: 8mb.local
Self-hosted web version of 8mb.video: compresses videos to fit messenger limits directly on your PC or server, files do not leave the machine. Under the hood is FFmpeg 6.1.1 with GPU encoding (NVENC, Quick Sync, AMF, VAAPI) and fallback to x264/x265/SVT-AV1; supports AV1, HEVC, H.264, and MP4/MKV.
🌍 Localization of cloud utilities continues: FastAPI + Celery + Redis + FFmpeg reproduce the UX of a popular web service without third-party servers, queues, or limits — privacy and utilization of idle GPU.
👤 A single docker run command (image jms1717/8mblocal, port 8001) or a Windows installer without Docker. Inside — batch processing, trimming, 8/25/50/100 MB presets, Folder Watch, and HTTP API. Nuances: CC BY-NC 4.0 license is non-commercial, NVENC requires driver 550+, and macOS only supports CPU mode.
