💼 Musk ready to cancel SpaceX contracts
Following the Democrats' victory in the US midterm elections, Musk responded on X on November 6 to calls to cancel SpaceX contracts: “Happy to cancel any that the government doesn't want. Just say the word!”. According to him, government contracts will account for less than 10% of revenue in the current quarter (16.6% in the previous one) and less than 5% in a year.
🌍 According to TNW (Bloomberg, Reuters), SpaceX earns the most from AI compute leasing, with its largest client being Anthropic, which can exit with 90 days' notice starting in 2027. Following the elections, Tesla and SpaceX lost over $450 billion, and Democrats are preparing investigations.
👤 Forks in the road: whether SpaceX will retain compute leasing if Anthropic leaves, and whether investigations will reach NASA and Pentagon contracts. Astronaut landing on Starship remains in effect.
