💼 AI Triggers PCB Shortage: Orders Booked Through 2030
Nikkei Asia (27.10.2026): Demand for AI servers has caused a shortage of printed circuit boards (PCBs) and CCL laminates for PC manufacturers. A leading Taiwanese CCL supplier has orders filled through 2030, with lead times reaching 30 months. According to one PC manufacturer, CCL prices have increased by at least 12 times since July 2026.
🌍 The bottleneck has shifted from chips to boards and materials: AI infrastructure is displacing consumer electronics from advanced production lines, and new capacity will not appear before 2028.
👤 In 2027, graphics cards, motherboards, and PCs may become more expensive and face delays: GPU boards use the same multilayer PCBs. Plan for longer lead times when building or upgrading.
