Anthropic published the results of its biology lab: with Claude, the first 3D structure of a prokaryotic vault particle was obtained — L05 from a bacteriophage, assembled in E. coli. Cryo-EM with 3.2 Å resolution: 96 copies of the protein; mass — approximately 9.5 MDa.

🌍 For the first time, an LLM agent completed the entire wet-lab cycle — from searching ~15 billion sequences and DNA design to cryo-EM — with measurable acceleration: isolation in 90 minutes instead of 3 days, first 3D model in 34 hours instead of weeks.

👤 AI agents are already doing serious scientific work, but with errors: a failed recommendation from Claude delayed experiments by two weeks. The function of vault particles, discovered in 1986, is unknown — the new structure provides the first clue.
