During the quarterly earnings call, CEO Andy Jassy confirmed that in late 2027, Trainium will be sold to third-party data centers as a standalone merchant product, rather than only being available as a rental service through AWS. AWS grew 39.3% year-over-year to $46.0 billion; the Trainium and Graviton business exceeded $25 billion annually.

🌍 Amazon is entering the merchant silicon market against Nvidia (81–90% of the AI accelerator market). The open-source TorchNeuron allows running ready-made PyTorch code without rewriting.

👤 The alternative to Nvidia will become more accessible as a purchasable chip for one's own data center, not just as a cloud service. The market trigger will be the first named external buyer of Trainium.
