🎨 Rian Johnson's Camera App Hits #1 in US App Store
Director Rian Johnson released the iOS app Chromagraph Camera: $12.99 one-time purchase, iOS 17+. One day after its announcement on X (6 million views), it reached #1 in the Photo & Video category. The "cinematic" color, contrast, grain, and halation are not a filter over standard processing, but a custom pipeline by operator Steve Yedlin. There is no mention of neural networks in the description — this is manual color science; edits do not destroy the original RAW.
🌍 A niche app without a subscription at a fair price soared to the top of the App Store — the economics of iPhone camera apps are shifting from subscriptions to proven looks.
👤 Want a "cinematic" look without manual color correction: you shoot, open the gallery — the Johnson/Yedlin style is already on the photo. Limitations: photos only, no RAW export, no Android.
