🛠 OpenAI Doubled Limits for Paid Subscribers — Without Raising Prices

On October 29, 2026, the company doubled usage limits for Work and Codex for ChatGPT Pro 100, Pro 200, Pro 500, and Business Premium plans. The changes are already in effect and were automatically applied to existing subscriptions. In a letter dated September 29, OpenAI had promised to reduce limits for Pro 200 starting October 30, but instead canceled the cut: Pro 200 subscribers now have a doubled quota for the same $200 per month. The Plus plan remained unchanged. The announcement was made by Tibo Sottiaux, head of the Codex and ChatGPT divisions, as part of the "25th day of 28 days of improvements." The adjustment concerns quotas, not the model: OpenAI notes that the doubled limit does not guarantee twice as many completed tasks, and Fast mode consumes quota 2.5 times faster than standard mode.

🌍 Competition among AI subscriptions has shifted from price to the volume of included capacity. A quota that is twice as large at the same price point lowers the cost per unit of included limit — OpenAI is responding to developer churn following the September Pro 200 cut and intensifying the fight for the B2B market ahead of Anthropic's IPO: few can double included limits without losing margin.

👤 If you pay for Pro 100, Pro 200, Pro 500, or Business Premium, your Work and Codex limits have already been doubled: nothing needs to be activated, and new values are visible on the usage page. Pro 200 holders additionally had the prepared reduction canceled. To make quotas last longer, run long tasks in Standard mode, and save Fast mode for work where response speed is important. Also keep in mind that terms may change again: a month ago, limits were set to be cut, but now they have been doubled.
