🤖 OpenAI Opens GPT-Rosalind to US University Labs

On October 15, OpenAI announced the Rosalind Academic Plan: up to 30 Business Standard seats free for up to 12 months for eligible labs — currently US universities. The plan includes the GPT-Rosalind model for life sciences and the Rosalind Workbench environment for medicinal chemistry, genomics, and wet-lab assistance. Access is granted after a trusted-access review; the API is not included, and research data is not used for training by default.

🌍 OpenAI is bringing its vertical scientific model into academia as a standalone product with free seats, establishing trusted-access with safeguards as the standard for dual-use scientific AI.

👤 Researchers in biology and chemistry can apply for free access for up to a year. Claims of "deep reasoning" have not yet been confirmed by experiments and comparisons with general-purpose models.
