Cloudflare has released two decision models, Clef (27B) and Clef-flash (9B), under the Apache 2.0 license. Instead of generating text in a single pass, they return the probabilities of options for typed questions and are available on Hugging Face and in Workers AI.

🌟 Cloudflare Releases Open Clef Decision Models

Cloudflare has released two decision models under the Apache 2.0 license — Clef (27B) and Clef-flash (9B). The weights are uploaded to Hugging Face, and the models are already available in Workers AI. They do not generate text: in a single pass, they return the probabilities of options for typed questions (choice/bool/score) that guide the agent.

🌍 A direct challenge to TypeSafe AI's closed Jev: Clef's API is fully compatible with Jev — integration can be switched without rewriting code. In 43 tests, Clef responds in 209 ms compared to Jev's 524 ms, and in BANKING77 it scores 94.2 macro-F1 compared to 79.7.

👤 The weights can be downloaded for free from Hugging Face and run locally, or the models can be called cheaply in Workers AI — $0.09 per 1 million input tokens for Clef-flash. The input is a JSON schema of questions, and the output is the probabilities of the options.
