💼 Amazon Blocks Purchases Through Meta's AI Agent

Starting September 20, Amazon is blocking payment for purchases made through Muse, Meta's personal AI agent, which launched on September 8. When attempting to pay on Amazon.com, a warning appears regarding a violation of the 'Conditions of Use': according to Amazon, Meta did not authorize the agent's access.

🌍 The agentic commerce dispute is escalating: who controls the purchase when an AI agent acts on behalf of a user. After losing a dispute with Perplexity in August, Amazon has shifted from 'hacking' lawsuits to contractual prohibitions—allowing the platform to cut off third-party agents by amending its terms.

👤 Muse became #1 in the free App Store top charts in the US one week after its launch, but purchases on Amazon through it are currently not going through. Outgoing agent actions are approved by a separate agent, Sentinel, and credentials are hidden even from the model itself.
