🤖 OpenAI claims to have solved a Millennium Prize Problem on the Navier–Stokes equations

Nature examines OpenAI's September 8 statement: thousands of AI agents proved singularity in the Navier–Stokes equations — a fluid reaches infinite speed in finite time. The Clay Institute pays $1 million for a solution.

🌍 According to OpenAI, a Millennium Prize Problem has been solved for the first time not by a human, but by an orchestra of AI agents. According to Karniadakis (Brown), for air, singularity occurs at a vortex width of ~70 nm: there, the continuous medium ceases to work, and with it aerodynamics and oceanography.

👤 The Navier–Stokes equations are used to calculate wing flow and weather forecasts — they will only break down at nanoscales. The proof awaits independent verification; parallel solutions were published by Alpöge–Buckmaster and the Anandkumar group.
