Gregory Kurtzer, creator of Rocky Linux, CentOS, and Apptainer, launched OpenWALDO. Public corpus: 124 billion tokens, 75.1 million documents, 20 collections, 18 license types. Key innovation — AI Bill of Materials (BOM): an immutable document with full history from source data to model, including hashes and licenses.

🌍 The project addresses the "black box" problem of training data: the MIT Data Provenance Initiative found >70% of datasets without licenses and >50% with licensing errors. OpenWALDO could become a foundation for regulatory compliance.
