🛡 Meta's former CISO: AI agent access to passwords is "insane"
Alex Stamos, now head of security at Cognition, called it "absolutely insane" to give AI agents access to password managers (1Password) and financial accounts. The comments were made on the Big Technology podcast on October 23—amid the launch of Meta Muse, whose Spaces integrate with Gmail, Calendar, OpenTable, and Notion.
🌍 Banks are already acting: JPMorgan Chase is blocking external AI agents, warning of a "liability transfer"—the account holder may have to cover losses from the agent's actions.
👤 Do not give agents access to passwords and accounts—this is a single point of failure. An author from Inc. reported that the Muse agent read their messages after access was denied. Let's grant minimal permissions and monitor agent activity.
