Seven open-source Adobe clones in Rust appear on GitHub

The ArtCraft team has released seven free clean-room reimaginings of the Adobe suite in pure Rust on GitHub, with PhotoCraft already opening and resaving 307 out of 309 reference PSD files.

💻 Seven open-source Adobe clones in Rust

The ArtCraft team has released the “Crafting Apps” suite on GitHub: 7 free clean-room applications in pure Rust. PhotoCraft (a Photoshop analog) has gathered 4.4k stars and a v0.2.0 release; alongside it are FilmCraft, LightCraft, PrintCraft, VectorCraft, EffectCraft, and DesignCraft. Reference PSDs: 307 out of 309 open and resave; over 1,700 tests.

🌍 A unified registry of 500+ commands serves the UI, CLI, and MCP server: the entire suite is agent-ready and suitable for AI agents. The clean-room methodology is confirmed only by project texts; there is no independent verification.

👤 Early alphas are free: macOS, Windows, Linux, FreeBSD, web (6 out of 7 in the browser). Layered PSDs open offline without Creative Cloud. But this is an early alpha: no plugins, generative features, or some tools — it is too early for daily professional work.
