OpenAI has released ChatGPT Images 2.5 with GPT-Image-2.5 Flare and Sunburst models in the API, a claimed 50% speed increase for Flare, and new image editing tools in ChatGPT at the same prices.

🎨 OpenAI has released ChatGPT Images 2.5

GPT-Image-2.5 Flare, according to OpenAI, is 50% faster than GPT-Image-2, with more natural lighting and better preservation of features from reference photos. Sunburst is also available in the API — with maximum editing precision. Prices are the same for both models: $5 per 1 million input text tokens, $8 for images, $30 for output.

🌍 The model edits one element of a scene without touching the rest and maintains quality across a series of edits. A product, background, or text can be changed without regenerating the entire asset — this reduces the cost of production pipelines.

👤 Available in ChatGPT, ChatGPT Work, and Codex on all platforms: sketch and @Sketch, a comment on an image area for pinpoint editing, templates, and a transparent background. Developers get new IDs in the Images and Responses API.
