🛡 Court bars Trump administration from punishing Anthropic
Federal Judge Rita Lin ruled that the 'supply chain risk' designation, which the Pentagon used in February 2026 to cut off the company's access to defense contracts, was illegal. The reason was Dario Amodei's refusal to allow Claude to be used for surveillance and autonomous weapons.
🌍 'Supply chain risk' has been found illegal for a U.S. AI company for the first time: a developer cannot be punished for public terms of use for its models. The ruling takes effect immediately, but the government can appeal.
👤 A developer can refuse the government's use of autonomous weapons or surveillance without losing the government market because of a social media post. Anthropic's government contracts are not mandatory — civil contracts will be decided by a lawsuit in Washington.
