🛡 Codeberg proposes banning predominantly AI-generated code

The Codeberg platform has introduced a proposal (Pull Request #1253) to expand its Terms of Use (ToU). The new rule would prohibit the publication of projects that consist predominantly of code generated by generative AI tools (including Claude and OpenAI Codex). This is due to the uncertain legal copyright status of such code.

🌍 This could set a precedent for Open Source platforms in the fight against "cluttering" repositories with low-quality AI content and attempting to legally protect intellectual property. If such rules become standard, it could change how AI assistants are integrated into the open-source development process.

👤 Developers should consider that using AI to write a significant portion of a project may become an obstacle to hosting code on alternative (non-GitHub) platforms that focus on purity and legal license transparency.
