🎮 Running Unity and X11 in YTsaurus Containers

Yandex's 3D reconstruction team has implemented the running of game engines (Unity) in YTsaurus containers to automate the rendering of 3DGS avatars. To make the graphics stack work, it was necessary to pass through /dev/nvidia-modeset, /dev/dri/card0, /dev/dri/renderD128, as well as run an X11 server with a DDX driver and dbus inside the container.

🌍 This turns a computing cluster into a full-fledged render farm, allowing the generation of heavy visual content to be scaled as easily as training neural networks.

👤 Complex graphics tasks can now be packed into cloud microservices without loss of performance, without depending on the presence of physical video outputs on the hardware.
