At the WWDC26 session, Apple presented the capabilities of running Agentic AI locally on Mac using the MLX framework. Developers can create reasoning loops where the model plans its own actions and uses tools, operating entirely on Apple Silicon.

🌍 Local AI reduces dependency on the cloud, increases privacy, and minimizes latency. Support for distributed inference via Thunderbolt or Ethernet provides up to a 3x speedup on a cluster of multiple Macs.

👤 You will be able to run powerful AI agents on your Mac without subscriptions or internet access. Integration with Xcode and support for tools like OpenCode allow for using AI to write code in real time.
